Lady Lancers Drop Close Games

In a Dec. 22nd non-conference road game, the Cordova High School girls’ basketball team fell to Placer, 50-38, in Auburn.

The Lady Lancers (3-7) outscored the Lady Hillmen, 11-10, in the second quarter to tie the game at 20-20 at halftime. But Placer raced past Cordova in the second half, 30-18, to record the win.

One day prior in Tracy, Cordova lost another close game to Kimball 26-21. The Lady Jaguars led 17-6 at halftime, but the Lancers’ defense kept Kimball to a combined nine points in the third and fourth quarters. Cordova scored 15 points in the final 16 minutes of the game.

On Dec. 19th, Cordova fell to Lodi, 44-40, in the championship game of the Liberty Ranch Tournament.

For the season, leading scorers for the lady Lancers are guard Erika Wilson with 10 points per game, guard/forward Kelsie Graf 9.5 per game, guard Leila Cooper 6.3 per game, forward/center Jullissa Reis at 5 per game and guard Nikki Jones at 4.8 per game.

Tomorrow, Saturday, the Lady Lancers continue non-league action at Nevada Union. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.

On Monday, Cordova plays its first home game of the season against Rio Americano. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. Then on Tuesday, the Lancers travel to Stockton to play at McNair. Game time is also scheduled for 7 p.m.
