Lady Lancers Defeat Galt in SVC Opener

Kelsie Graf delivered for the Cordova High School girls’ basketball team in Tuesday’s Sierra Valley Conference home opener against Galt.
The Lady Lancer forward scored one-third of her team’s 22 points that led to a 69-27 win over the Lady Warriors. Graf was one of two who scored in double figures; guard Erika Wilson followed with 17 points.
Jullissa Reis was next in scoring for the Lancers with nine points; Aneka White eight, Adrienne Hammond five, and guards Leila Cooper and Nikki Jones had four points each.
Defense also played a role for the Lady Lancers in the conference opener. Leading 17-10 after the first quarter, Cordova jumped out to a 22-5 advantage in the second quarter for a 39-15 halftime lead.
Center 52, Cordova 41
In a non-league home game Jan. 9th, Wilson and Graf had19 and 13 points respectively. Cooper followed with five points, Reis three and White one.
Cordova trailed from the first quarter to the end against the visiting Cougars. In the opening quarter, Center jumped out to a 21-10 lead and 33-23 at halftime.
Bethel 52, Cordova 49 (OT)
On Jan. 8th, also a non-league home game, Cordova and Bethel were tied at 43-43 after four quarters. The visiting Lady Cougars outscored the Lancers, 9-6, to win the game in overtime.
Graf led the Lancers with 19 points. Cooper followed with 16, Wilson seven, White five and Reis two.
Cordova 41, McNair 17
In a non-conference road game Jan. 5th, the Lady Lancers jumped out to a 12-2 lead after the first quarter and 20-7 at halftime.
Leading scorers for the Lancers were Graf with 13 points. Jones and White had six points each, Cooper five, Wilson four, Annalise Tate three and Hammond and Reis two each.
Last night, Thursday, Cordova played at Union Mine. Next Tuesday, the Lancers host El Dorado and Thursday, January 21st entertain Liberty Ranch. All three games are scheduled to tip-off at 7 p.m.
