Lancers Take Part in Masters Meet

DAVIS, CA (MPG) - The Cordova Lancers varsity track and field team took part in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV Masters meet at Davis High School on Friday, May 17, 2019.
During field events, the boys’ side did not see any top-10 finishers, with junior Timothy Apole coming closest after taking 11th place during the finals of the shot put, with a mark of 45-02.00.
On the track, senior Mason Trujillo finished in 13th place in the prelims of the 800 meters with a time of 1:59.08. Trujillo was also part of a 13th place finish during prelims in the 4x400 relay with junior Gavin Sullivan, junior Brandon Gray and senior Kijon Allen, who compiled a time of 3:28.73.
For the girls, senior Faauiga Toele finished second in the shot put with a mark of 41-05.00 in the finals. Junior Pele Toele ended up in 12th place in the same event after recording a mark of 35-11.00. Pele Toele also finished 13th in the finals of the discus throw with a distance of 107-03. In the triple jump, junior Blessings Norwood saw a personal record of 37-04.50 go for a sixth place finish in the finals.
During track events, sophomore Corrie Harrison ended up 13th in the prelims of the 100 meters with a time of 12.77. She would follow that up with a time of 26.03 in the 200 meter prelims, good for 10th. In the 100m hurdles, freshman Briar Seals took 19th in the prelims with a time of 16.88.
The Lancers will take to the track and field Friday May 24 at the CIF State Championships, with prelims on Friday and the finals on Saturday May 25 at Buchanan High School in Clovis, CA.
