Cordova Preps Holiday Roundup
Jan 02, 2020 12:00AM ● By Story by James DarnellRANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - Although the temperatures outside are getting colder, things are just warming up across the board for Cordova Lancers winter athletics.
During Christmas week, the Lancers boys basketball team hosted the Cordova Christmas Classic holiday tournament from December 26-30. After beating Casa Roble 78-38 in their opening round matchup, the Lancers dropped their second round game 66-60 to McClatchy and were eliminated from the tournament.

Lancers boys’ hoops will wrap up their preseason on Tuesday, January 7 at Rocklin before opening Greater Sacramento League play when they host visiting Johnson at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 10.
Girls Basketball
Following a loss at Grant on Monday, December 23, the Lady Lancers basketball team dropped to a 6-5 preseason record. With three straight home games this week against Argonaut (December 30), Capital Christian (January 2) and Laguna Creek (January 3), the team will have the opportunity to get on a roll prior to beginning league play at Johnson on Friday, January 10.
Boys Soccer
The Lancer boys' soccer team has had an underwhelming start to their first season under new head coach Kyle Novak, compiling a 2-5-1 preseason record. The team did enter the holiday break and new year with an 8-0 victory at home against visiting Sac High on December 18, however.
The team will return to the field on Tuesday, January 7 when they travel to Antelope to face off against Center High. Three days later, the Lancers will travel to Johnson in their league opener on Friday, January 10.
Wrestling
After practicing and scrimmaging for the better part of the past month, the Lancers' varsity wrestling team will begin its season on Tuesday, January 14 when they host Valley in a league duel scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
