RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - This winter, the City of Rancho Cordova began work on the final phase of the Folsom Boulevard Beautification and Enhancement Project that will result in new landscaping and safety features along Folsom Boulevard. The final phase of this project will conclude a 17-year effort to enhance Folsom Boulevard from Sunrise Boulevard to Bradshaw Road totaling $42 million in improvements.
“The completion of the final phase of this 17-year effort to revitalize Folsom Boulevard will be a tremendous landmark for the City of Rancho Cordova,” said Albert Stricker, Public Works Director for the City of Rancho Cordova. “It will provide safer and more accessible routes for everyone who lives, works, learns and plays in our city,” he added.
This project will enhance Folsom Boulevard from Bradshaw Road to Horn Road and from Kilgore Road to Sunrise Boulevard. This will include landscaped medians, new sidewalks, streetscape improvements at intersections, drainage facilities and new streetlights.
The $5.5 million contract for the project was awarded to Granite Construction Company in December 2019. Construction began in February and the project is expected to be completed in Fall 2020.
