Folsom Cordova Selects New Principal of Mitchell Middle School

RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - We are pleased to introduce Amy Strawn as our Mitchel Middle School Principal for the 2020-21 school year. Ms. Strawn began her career in education right here in the Folsom Cordova School District. At the age of 23, Ms. Strawn taught kindergarten at Rancho Cordova Elementary School. She has also distinguished herself as an English Teacher at Mitchell Middle School, an IB Middle Years Programme Coordinator, a Teaching Vice Principal of Secondary Summer School, a Vice Principal at Folsom Middle School, and in her current role as International Baccalaureate Coordinator for Mitchell Middle School and Cordova High School.
A longtime member of the FCUSD family, Ms. Strawn is also a former FCUSD student, having attended Oak Chan, Folsom Middle, and graduating from Folsom High.
Ms. Strawn brings a depth of understanding of the MYP and the IB programs, a reputation as an instructional leader among the Mitchell staff, and most importantly strong and long term relationships with families and our community partners in Rancho Cordova.
Ten years ago, in 2010, Ms. Strawn was named “Teacher of the Year” at Mitchell Middle school. In 2013, she was named the ACSA Region 3 “Aspiring Administrator of the Year.” In 2020, she was named “Support Staff of the Year” at Mitchell Middle school and this year, Ms. Strawn has been named the ACSA, Region 3 “Administrator of the Year: Curriculum and Instruction.”
