RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - The City of Rancho Cordova is proud to welcome Matt Warren as its new Rancho Cordova Assistant Chief of Police.

Warren has 20 years of experience with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office and fills the role vacated by former Assistant Chief of Police Chad Lewis. Warren will oversee the Patrol Unit and Traffic Unit, as well as overarching responsibilities over all other areas.

Warren began his career in law enforcement with the Sheriff’s Office in 2000 after graduating from Sacramento State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. As a Deputy, Sergeant and Lieutenant, he has experience working in many areas of the Sheriff’s Office, including Corrections, Patrol, Problem Oriented Policing, K9 Unit, and Internal Affairs. In addition, Warren has his Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership from National University.

In July 2018, Warren joined the Rancho Cordova Police Department and has served as the Operations Commander overseeing special units and Graveyard Watch Commander.

“I am honored to have been selected as the new Assistant Chief of Police for the Rancho Cordova Police Department,” said Assistant Chief of Police Warren. “The partnership we have with our community is far above anything I’ve experienced in law enforcement, and I hope to continue working to enhance community trust and involvement in policing.”

As Assistant Chief of Police, Warren also hopes to continue recruiting the best caliber officers to join the Rancho Cordova Police Department, as well as provide a continued high quality of law enforcement services in the City of Rancho Cordova.
