RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - In an effort to fight hunger and combat food waste, earlier this month, Mother Lode Van & Storage Inc, in partnership with Move For Hunger, a non-profit organization, collected canned goods and other non-perishable items at Rancho Cordova City Hall and the Rancho Cordova Police Department to donate to the Rancho Cordova Food Locker. Move For Hunger works with moving companies across the United States and Canada to rescue unopened, non-perishable items and deliver them to local food banks and pantries, helping to fill the cupboards of those in need.

“The City of Rancho Cordova was proud to partner with Move For Hunger by being a food collection site,” said Mayor Garrett Gatewood. “Thanks to the generosity of our residents and businesses, we collected 1,000 lbs of food for the Rancho Cordova Food Locker that will go straight to those in need.”

How you can help:

Roughly 40% of food that is grown, processed, and transported in the United States goes to waste. You can help by reducing food waste in your household by donating food items, using technology to come up with new recipes to use the food you already have in your cupboard and by learning how to properly store your food.
