RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - Join the Rancho Cordova Police Department (RCPD) as it congratulates two members of its team as they retire from long-time law enforcement careers, Therese Burke and Charlene (Greenly) Pettigrew!

Burke retired from a 36-year career with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office. She first came to Rancho Cordova in 1993 working in the Service Center on Dawes Street and brought many programs to the community.

In 2003, Burke joined RCPD as the Towing Officer before becoming the Traffic Analyst. In this role, she entered thousands of citations and reports, responded to resident inquiries and concerns, and greeted visitors to the Service Center. Burke was also a valued part of the behind-the-scenes team at many Rancho Cordova events.

Burke had a knack for detail, knowledge of the city, and ability to form instant connections with residents. She was known for her willingness to assist with anything at any time, no matter how difficult the task.

Burke also held several community roles in Rancho Cordova through the years. She was Honorary Mayor of Rancho Cordova, part of the cityhood effort, the first female member of the city’s Planning Commission, and more.

Pettigrew retired from a 21-year career with the Sheriff’s Office. She joined RCPD in 2005 to support the newly formed police department.

Equipment, services and purchasing required someone with attention to detail and the ability to balance the support all teams needed side-by-side. Pettigrew stepped up to the challenge and threw her heart into making every day count.

Pettigrew has also been behind-the-scenes of Rancho Cordova events, such as the Fourth of July Celebration and California Capital Airshow, as well as Driving Under the Influence checkpoints. From making hundreds of last minute shopping trips to dropping off loaded ice chests, she was focused on ensuring her team was taken care of as they kept the community safe.

RCPD wishes Burke and Pettigrew all the best in their next chapter!
