RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) – Residents came together at White Rock Community Park to share their moments of grieving, healing and winning in this second year since the passing away of the young Cordova High School athlete, Calvin James Augusta. The day offered a feast of a barbecue, a basketball tournament and the opportunity to show some sympathy to those who have experienced loss or have at-risk children due to mental illness and street violence. Calvin’s mother, Sharea Thomas-Davis, addressed the need for young people to make hard choices in order to give themselves the best chance to succeed in life. The day inspired kids with a sense of unity and togetherness, instilling a winning spirit to keep striving to be their best.
