RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) – Hundreds of Lancers returned to Rancho Cordova on Friday night for Cordova’s homecoming game against Foothill.

The Lancers lost on the field 62-6. However, most alumni didn’t let the defeat take away from the fun in the stands and during halftime. Seven generations of Cordova alumni were in attendance.

After the first 24 minutes of action, respective classes marched together on the track in the halftime homecoming parade. Cordova’s first graduating class, the Class of 1965, were well represented and led the way for the parade.

Classes from the 1970s including 71’, 72’ and 74’ held up banners that read, “Once a Lancer Always a Lancer.” Other classes from the 80s and 90s were also well represented. The Class of 2012 had a strong contingent, with two of the larger men sporting their Lancers lettermen jackets.

Current students had a blast as well. Hours away from the spooky month of October, three boys dressed as hotdogs and stood alongside their friend, Adrian Ramirez, who was elected to the homecoming court.

Juniors in the Class of 2024 had a Batman inspired float and held up an onomatopoeia sign on the side with words on it like “BOOM,” “BANG” and “POW.” Adi Mangas and Justin Kofnovec were elected as homecoming royalty for their class.

Seniors in the Class of 2023 had a Spiderman inspired float, with Peter Parker’s alter ego battling his nemesis Venom in a game of… football. Rocio Perez and Taiwan Newton were chosen as the homecoming queen and king.

The Class of 2026 selected Arianna Cisneros and Emma-Marie Johnson as freshman royalty. The Class of 2025 selected Adrian Ramirez and Bailee Zdan as sophomore royalty.

In what has been a tough season on the field for the Lancers, the Cordova community was able to reunite Friday and turn what could’ve been a night to forget, into the highlight of the season thus far.

The Lancers’ next home game is October 14 at 7:15 p.m. against Valley.
