POP Officer Helps in Investigation Leading to Arrest of Retail Shoplifter

RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - RCPD Problem Oriented Policing (POP) officers in the City of Rancho Cordova have been partnering with Rancho Cordova Target’s loss prevention team to identify, investigate and arrest serial shoplift suspects and organized retail theft offenders.

One of the long-term investigations was for an individual who stole approximately $3,800 in merchandise. In November 2022, the individual was convicted of two counts of felony theft and sentenced to four years in state prison. 

The RCPD POP officer supports the Folsom-Olson-Zinfandel business district. POP officers build relationships with businesses, employees and customers, as well as develops long-term solutions to address concerns in the area.

The POP position is funded thanks to the city's Community Enhancement and Investment Fund.
