California Capital International Documentary Film Festival Dates Announced

RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - The 3rd Annual California Capital International Documentary Film Festival will be held on March 7, 8 and 9 in Rancho Cordova. 

Tickets including all access passes are available on calcapdocfest.org and can also be purchased in person at Fat Elephant Records, Books and Music 2707 Cordova Lane, Rancho Cordova. 

The festival will take place at three screening locations: Rancho Cordova City Hall Council Chambers and The American River Room, 2729 Prospect Park Drive, Rancho Cordova, and the Rancho Cordova Youth Center 10455 Investment Circle, Rancho Cordova.

This year’s program will screen 44 films which includes, 23 Shorts (a short is a film under 45 minutes) and 21 long-form docs (anywhere from 55 mins to 1.40). Of these, we will screen films from 12 different countries around the world. 

For the first time, this year’s festival will offer a virtual aspect to the festival where filmgoers can purchase a “virtual pass” that will allow them to view as many films as they like from the comfort of their own home. The virtual pass is valid from March 10 through March 24. A virtual pass is $30 or included when purchasing an all-access pass ($45). 

Documentary subjects will include world and U.S. premiers. Additionally, two locally made documentaries will have world premier screenings at the festival. Food for Thought: The Story of the Rancho Cordova Food Locker. Food for Thought takes viewers on a heartfelt journey into the operations of the Rancho Cordova Food Locker, an essential resource for battling food insecurity.  Receiving its first audience screening, Symphony Serenade. Symphony Serenade explores the origin and growth of Symphony D'Oro, Rancho Cordova. The film follows the symphony as they prepare and perform an original movement about the city, composed by Carlos McMillan-Fuentes.

The festival aims to provide an international program to local audiences and will feature screenings in cinematic 6k with surround sound
