Hit and Run Traffic Incident - CHP South Sacramento Seeks Public Assistance

SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - 
On March 24 at approximately 10:54 p.m., the California Highway Patrol (CHP) received reports of a pedestrian running in the lanes of traffic on southbound State Route 51 (Business 80), north of X Street.  

Upon arrival, California Highway Patrol units discovered a male pedestrian lying in the roadway who had succumbed  to his injuries. 

Preliminary investigation indicates the incident began as a hit-and-run collision involving a vehicle striking the pedestrian. Subsequently, four additional vehicles were unable to avoid the pedestrian and also made contact. The drivers of these four vehicles remained at the scene and cooperated with California Highway Patrol officers.  

The investigation is ongoing, and California Highway Patrol is seeking assistance from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or observed the pedestrian in the roadway prior to the collision.
